While I dislike the Archive icon used in Better Explorer, I don't see the need for the main application.

You can easily create a shortcut and change its icon (customising the shortcut).

I didn't like this new icon at first either, but I got used to it. I can work on making a new icon myself, but I will need some inspiration first. :)

I think that adding an option to change the icon for the main window is unnecessary. I welcome customization, but there comes a point where you don't want to allow too much customization, or you will overwhelm users.

And when it comes to the archive icon, that is currently not changing because that means we would need to find replacements for other archive-related icons as well, which currently do not exist.
