Ribbon color defaults to Silver

description

Running win 7 x64, ribbon color always defaults back to Silver upon BE closing. Tried to manually change the key in the registry but got the same results. Registry settings are overwritten upon BE closing and ribbon color key is changed to "Silver".

Fixed in latest build. This build is available to download, but will soon be replaced with fixes by me and Dimitar.

Are you using the latest release? I've seen it happen in the 2.0.0.831 release, but I don't know about the latest one...

Yes, I am using 2.0.0.861

Darn you Codeplex... making me comment twice on stuff... lol. Anyway, the funny thing is that BetterExplorer's default is blue, not silver... I'll take a look at the code, and maybe Dimitar will too, and then we'll go from there.

Okay, a new build has been added on the Source Code page, and Dimitar has mentioned that he fixed a Ribbon skin bug, which may be the issue bothering you here. :)

You can download and compile the source code from that page, or I'll be soon making a new page with the build pre-compiled and ready to use!

Thank you. I will wait for the compiled version, as I don't know how to do it myself.

I confirmed this issue is fixed in build 89163, Better Explorer correctly saves the Ribbon Color setting. Note: In build 89163 the text for the File, Home, Share, and View menu items are in a different language. I reported this issue in the issue tracker. So you may want to wait for that problem to be fixed.

I have updated the build. I will compile it and post it online soon. And it will be in English as well. :D Lol.

Okay, go to this page ( [Source Code Builds] ) and follow the instructions there... This should have the fix you need, as well as a few other extras. :) Do not uninstall BetterExplorer, however...

Whoops, that didn't work as expected...

It worked! The ribbon color issue is gone. Thanks :)

I you need help to translate BE into Spanish, I can help.

jacobrh94 wrote Apr 15, 2012 at 5:19 PM

Glad to hear your issue is resolved!

And we would gladly appreciate you helping us translate it into Spanish. :D I think the best way to handle that is just to make a list of the commands in English and then their translations in Spanish, and then send me the list over CodePlex or something... After that, I can add that right into the program.

jmbolivar wrote Apr 15, 2012 at 5:57 PM

Where could I get that list of commands in English? I am using Win 7 Ultimate in Spanish...

jacobrh94 wrote Apr 18, 2012 at 3:32 AM

Alright, I'll make a list for people to use. I'll post it online soon.

Okay, if you'd still like to help, we'd really appreciate it. :) See this page: http://bexplorer.codeplex.com/wikipage?title=Translation%20Document
